Literary Intrigue
I saw Possession last night. It was a bit sappy, but I loved the story and how the Victorian scenes were interwoven with the present day scenes. I thought all the acting was top notch too. Why isn't Aaron Eckhart more of a star? This is another movie that has me wanting to read the book.

Weekend Update
Saw Pink Martini last night up at the zoo. It was sold out and completely packed! There was an opening band and they finished around 7:30 p.m. Pink Martini started late and finished by 10. They didn't play that long, which was a bummer. We left about two songs before they were finished so we could avoid the crowds taking MAX. I had never seen Pink Martini live and they sounded good. Check them out...

I finally saw Lord of the Rings this weekend. In the beginning I was really engaged, but my enthusiasm faded after the midway point. More than anything, it made me want to read the book. I plan on starting The Hobbit first, then finishing the Lord of the Rings series. I've had the boxed set since I got them for Christmas in high school, but have never read them. It's probably about time.

B and I went to a really great seafood restaurant on Saturday night, Winterborne. We had an amazing meal there. Huge mussels, delicious tomato/corn soup, halibut with a roasted red pepper sauce, and a seafood bouillabaise with prawns, more mussels, salmon, and clams. The meal ended with some lightly dressed greens. Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert. This was a wonderfully intimate space. Highly recommended!

Lawful Order
Summer is the time for reruns, and as of late, I have been catching up on old episodes of the original Law & Order. Just last night I watched three hours straight–first on TNT and then A & E. I also started watching some of the spinoff series, Criminal Intent and Special Victims Unit, which I had never seen before. For some unexplainable reason I am just plain addicted to this show with its similarity to true events and the focus on the crime, rather than getting involved with personal storylines. Lucky for me, it's on everyday on cable!

Bump in the Night
I was awakened at 4:21 a.m. by a loud thwacking sound. I got up and went to the living room to look out the window.

I'm Back
Got home yesteday afternoon after six hours on the road. I was so tired from all that driving! The weather in Vancouver was gorgeous the entire time. Walked around everywhere all day long. Saw the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Robson Street, Yaletown, Gastown, Stanley Park, Granville Island, and the West End. The only thing I wish I had done was bring my swimsuit so I could lounge on the beach and at the pool. Vancouver reminded me a lot of San Francisco. There were tons of tourists (including myself) everywhere you went. It seemed like the city was in a perpetual buzz from all the people there. I think I need a vacation from the vacation. One of my favorite things about going away is coming home.

Bow Wow Wow
Tomorrow I'm going to part two of the volunteer trianing at the Oregon Humane Society. The facility is still fairly new and looks wonderful. I'm looking forward to providing service to a worthwhile organization. Plus I get to work with dogs. Yay! I miss having dogs.

Vacation!
I've got an appointment tomorrow with the doctor about this tension headache that's been lingering around. It's driving me crazy. My weeklong vacation starts next week. Yay! Going to Vancouver BC to hang out. I can't wait though the weather here at home has been just about perfect. In the high 70s with a nice little breeze to keep you cool.
