"The Story About The Baby" - this consistently funny and entertaining website is well suited to anyone who has ever thought about having kids, has kids or anyone else. An endearing yet fantastically cynical take on the first year of raising a child has just wrapped up and in its completion is a great antidote to the overbearing cutesy-wootsy baby web pages that proliferate the internet. With entry titles such as: The Unbearable Grossness of Being, Dawn of the Neglectomatic and The Use Of Skinnerian Conditioning To Mold My Child's Brain, well how could you go wrong? [MetaFilter]

So, as I'm driving out to a school this morning, my temperature gauge starts heading toward the H red zone. I immediately turned around and headed to my mechanic's shop. It also happened on Saturday night. I was hoping it was just a leak in the radiator hose. Of course, when they checked it out, it turned out I needed a new head gasket. $700. Ouch! And the final bill will be more with labor. Did I mention that I won't be getting a paycheck in June? Don't I have some long-lost relative out there somewhere who I should be inheriting money from? I hate it when stuff like this happens.
Student Loans Are for Suckers Interesting article via Kuro5hin...I was in debt $30,000 from graduate school, which I finished in 1994. I think I'll have it all paid off sometime in 2004. Luckily I got a job right out of school and starting paying off my loans immediately. My payments range from $250-$320 a month. That's a huge chunk of change. Especially when I think of the impending school district furlough and not receiving a paycheck for the entire month of June. I will feel a grand sense of accomplishment when this repayment is over.
