For TiVo and Replay, New Reach I've had my TiVo for about a month now and am really enjoying it. I've yet to do any hacks on my unit, but am excited to try them. Especially for the 30-second skip. I don't know that I'd use any of these new features because of all the extra costs, but I like to know that I have the option.
So far, my favorite things about the TiVo are the Wish Lists and the Season Pass. A Wish List allows you to search for a particular genre of movie, a specific actor, or a specific director. Once you have the specifics, you can choose to auto-record all of those programs or select the ones you want. With the Season Pass, the TiVo will record all episodes of a show's run. Even if the regularly scheduled time changes! I also love pausing live TV. That's fun too.
I was in Seattle over the weekend for the Seattle International Film Festival. I got a call from some friends who had extra tickets to see a movie called Camp, which the boyfriend of my friend directed. My friend also had a brief cameo appearance, which was way cool! B and I loved the movie. It's about a group of teenage outcasts who attend a camp for talented misfits in upstate New York over the course of one summer. Thumbs up, especially if you like musical theater.
Fannypack is the name of the hiphop trio that sings that catchy new song, Cameltoe, which I heard on the radio the other night. It's got some funny lyrics too. I think I'd buy this album. They got a mention in the NYTimes today.
Dating a Blogger, Reading All About It Interesting article...While personal blogs have been around for years, their proliferation has caused a wrinkle in the social fabric among people in their teens, 20's and early 30's.
The Anaheim Mighty Ducks were on fire last night in Game 3 again Minnesota. I never thought I'd be saying this, but Go Ducks!
I saw this newest Neil Labute movie this weekend. The play was in town for a couple of weeks back in February, but I skipped it because tickets were a little spendy. Although I knew what the movie was about, the ending still surprised me. It was an interesting comment about relationships and what is "real" for each person in the relationship. After thinking about the movie more, I think I can say I liked it. This movie was more Labute than his two previous: Nurse Betty and Possession.
My birthday was last Friday and one gift I received was a TiVo! Yippee! I am now a legitimate member of the cult of TiVo. My favorite thing is playing around with live TV. The only thing I don't like is not being able to watch one program and record antoher. Other news: TiVo has said it will license a bare-bones
version of its service primarily to makers of DVD players.

Aside from O'Reilly's Emerging Tech conference, the other conference I would most liek to attend is the Good Experience Live (GEL) conference. The first conference was held in NYC last Friday and is meant to explore what it means to create, and to be a part of, a good experience. There was an interesting mix of speakers: from Google's director of consumer products to authors, artists, and other creative folk. Anil has written an excellent recap of the day's event.
Big news in town concerning the Blazers. Bob Whitsitt, president and general manager, resigned yesterday. Could this mark a turning point for the beleaguered organization, which has turned off fans this year with numerous drug-related incidents, fights, and the like? Only time will tell.
