Holidays Rock

I love four-day weekends! I have been able to slightly catch up on all my moviegoing. In the theaters, I have seen 21 Grams, and Love Actually. I have also rented tons of DVDs: Jackass (a big hit after Thanskgiving dinner), Stevie, Whale Rider, Laurel Canyon, and Wrong Turn. Something funny happened at yesterday's matinee screening of Love Actually. When the previews finished, the movie was started and up flashed a quote by Napolean or someone. Then there was water. The movie that was starting was Master and Comander actually! Turns out they had screwed up some showings and everyone had to rush across the hall to the other theater, which was supposed to be showing Gothika. After the movie ended (it was cute), everyoen got a free ticket for another movie because of the inconvenience. Woohoo! I'm going to see Lost in Translation sometime today.

John Currin

After reading this feature in the NY Times Magazine and reading this review, I became fascinated with John Currin's work. I have seen his paintings in the past, but I am drawn to his recent works because they seem to have this delicate quality about them.

My Old Life

Between all the house projects and the knitting of scarves, I haven't had any time to go catch any new movies. The last movie I saw was The School of Rock. There are quite a few movies out now that I would love to see and the holiday season will bring more in a week or two. The current list of what I want to see: Mystic River, Elephant, Love Actually, The Matrix Revolutions, Kill Bill, Whale Rider, The Singing Detective, and Pieces of April.
