So, I've changed my mind on a couple of updates. In the kitchen, I've decided to go for a Marmoleum countertop for the one side. On the other side, which is only about 30" wide, I will have butcher block installed. I am still wavering on basement flooring though. It's between bamboo, cork, or laminate. I also am trying to decide on whether or not the knotty pine walls in the basement should be painted. I think it would substantially brighten it up down there. I think it all depends on the flooring. We shall see!
So, I am still waiting on two of my three bids before I can move forward with my loan and lock it down. Once I get the bids, I will then have to get an appraisal and then I can schedule the start of the construction. I am a little worried that I won't be able to do everything that I want to do, but I have no idea what these bids will come in at. I want to have at least $10,000 as my backup fund, in case any unforeseen costs arise.
The gas was piped up last week and my new meter was installed. That means my furnace and tankless water heater can be installed. My HVAC contractor is ready to install next week, but I'm not sure I am. I also am waiting for a second bid to decommission my oil tank. The total cost of the new furnace, water heater, and decommissioning will come out to approximately $7200.
