Goa Goa Gone

I ran out of yarn for sleeve two when I was three-quarters done with it. Bummer! At least sleeve one is completed. I'll have to call the LYS to check to see if the have any more Goa in stock. I snatched up all they had in this color for this project. I may just have to make a quick trip over there at lunchtime.

I get vacation next week. Yay! Can't wait to relax and start a new knitting project. Heading up to Vancouver BC on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to that trip since it's been about 20 years since I was last there. The rest of August is planned out with work trainings and classes. I can't believe school is going to start so soon!

Master of My Own Domain

Sorry about all the URL changes. But I think everything is set now. I decided to go with the Shade of Grey hosting package from PlugSocket Internet out of the UK. For $85 a year, some of the features I got included my free domain name (only if paid for yearly), Greymatter pre-installed, 65Mb of webspace, CGI Scripts (ASP, PHP4, Perl), and much more. Twenty of the $85 also goes to Noah Grey, who developed Greymatter. I don't mean for this to be an advertisement, but I thought it was a pretty good deal. You could also run Movable Type instead of Greymatter, if you'd rather. I think I'll just stick with Blogger Pro for now to make things easier.

Started the sleeves of the sweater. Should be done with them tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully, I can assemble the sweater this weekend!

Almost Done

As I thought, this sweater is knitting up fast! I am finished with the body and need to start work on the sleeves. One of the reasons I wanted to do this project was because it was knit in the round. It's a fun design too.

Swatch It!

I knitted my swatch with the GGH Goa yesterday and it was right on. I casted on my stitches and got through a couple of rounds of stockinette stitch. I think this project will be done lickety-split due to the very chunky yarn and the size 11 needles. I like that kind of project!

And the Winner is...

My next project is this Sweater with Peplum, pattern 1, from Rebecca 17. I'm using GGH Goa in Lime.

I'm trying to figure out what my next project will be. I've got it narrowed down to about three sweaters in old issues of Rebecca. I've also got this sweater in my head that I want to design for fall/winter. I want to try to get that started too.

The weather here has been fantastically sunny. I hope it starts to cool down soon though. I'm gonna melt!

I may go see Y tu mama tambien tonight, so that's one less movie on my "to see" list.

I just finished jury duty this morning. I was scheduled to go in yesterday and actually got on a trial as part of a six-member jury! It was a graffiti case. The closing arguments were presented yesterday at 4 p.m. and we deliberated for an hour. We couldn't come to any unanimous decisions so we had to go back in again this morning. I had never done jury duty before and it was rather interesting. In Portland, your service is only for one day unless the trial you are selected for goes longer. You aren't on call like in some cities. At least I didn't have to sit around in the waiting room all day. But just in case, I had some knitting ready!

Here's the Petticoat Top!

Friday, July 19, 2002

I finished the Petticoat Top! It just needs to be sewn together. I'm so looking forward to this weekend after this weeklong training. It's hard to sit for about eight hours and have people talk at you without getting bored. I did bring the Petticoat Top to the workshop one day earlier this week, but only knitted during breaks. I was able to get quite a bit done though. TGIF!

I'm at a training for work the rest of the week. Posts will be sporadic.

Here's a shot from Pacbell Park. The Giants beat the Rockies 6-1. The weather in San Francisco was gorgeous. Spent a lot of time walking around everywhere. Some other highlights of the trip included going to a DadaFest Friday night at the SomArts Cultural Center, checking out art at the SFMOMA, and having dinner at the Zuni Cafe. We didn't have nearly enough time to do everything we wanted to, but it was great to get away for a long weekend! I did manage to finish the back of the Petticoat Top last night too.

Off to San Francisco tomorrow morning. Yay! Going to see a Giants game (vs. the Colorado Rockies) plus lots of other fun stuff. It'll be nice to get away, though I think I'm going to miss all the good weather here at home.

Here are the colors I'm using for the Petticoat Top. The yarn is Gedifra Wellness. I crocheted the granny square skirt with the same yarn, but love how it feels when I am knitting with it.

Here's my next project: the Petticoat Top from Rebecca 23. I'm going to alter the colors a little bit though.

A great article on Lance Armstrong from The New Yorker.

Kissing Jessica Stein is a hilarious movie. On my must-see list are CQ, Lovely and Amazing, Me Without You, and Y tu mama tambien.

I finished the Ginger tank over the long weekend! Yay! I love this pattern. It fits perfectly. I don't usually like tank tops, but this one has an attractive cut.

Wednesday, July 03, 2002

I was doing some early morning knitting on the Ginger tank and realized I had done too many decreases towards the bottom. I was just getting ready to start in on the V in the back. I had to frog about 40 rows. Ack! Thank goodness for the four-day weekend. Hopefully I can catch up and finish by Saturday or Sunday.

I love summer! But it's so hard to concentrate on work. I'd rather just sit by a pool somewhere and read or knit, or go to the movies. I can't wait for the two trips I have planned: San Francisco in a week and a half and Vancouver BC in August. Both trips are fairly short (SF for a long weekend and Vancouver for four days), but I am excited to get away! The weather here has been really beautiful most of the time, however, it's supposed to shower on the Fourth of July.

The Ginger tank front is speeding right along. I'm thinking ahead to my next project, but don't have any ideas. Another tank or shell? I'm mostly thinking about knitting things for fall!

Here's the strappy sundress I made last week using the Oriental toile. I used McCall's pattern 3563 again.

I also finished the front of the Ginger tank yesterday. It's blocking now. Started the front, but didn't really get too far, just casted on and knit a row or two.
