Backed Up

I finished the back of this sweet little cardigan yesterday afternoon. I've started the right and left front pieces at the same time. I'm making the 6-12 month size, so it should knit up quickly. I've never worked with the 4-Ply Soft before and it does indeed create a nice soft fabric. I also like the moss stitch trim at the bottom. I took a picture, but it doesn't look as good on the web page as it does on the camera, so I'll wait until later to post another one.

I Don't Know If I Like It

Zipped Up

Aside from working on the kid stuff for the store, I'm starting this baby gift for a friend who is due at the end of August. I am using Rowan 4-Ply Soft in Honk (that's red to you and me). The pattern is from Rowan Junior. I practically finished the skirt last night except for the zipper. I hope to get that done tonight. I don't really know if I like the skirt. I don't know if it's the fabric or if the style is just unattractive on me. I'll post a photo soon.

Hot, Hot, Hot

It has been so hot here in the last couple of weeks that I haven't had too much motivation to work on any projects. I'd rather go lay out by a pool, so that's what I've been doing. The skirt panels are ready to be sewn together and I've been working on designing and knitting this child-sized poncho for the store. I'm using Debbie Bliss Merino Chunky wool. It's nice yarn to work with, but I wish it came in brighter colors. It should be completed by the end of the week!

Whew!

I am so wiped out from wedding weekend. Beginning last Thursday, I had non-stop events to attend and barely had time to rest in between. It was all great fun though, and now I need to recover. I hardly had any free moments to work on any projects. Last night I swatched some yarn to see what it would look like and the skirt pattern pieces are all cut out and ready to be sewn together. I also reconnected with the woman who owns the children's clothing store and she asked me again if I wanted to knit some stuff for her. If you recall, I had knit some hats and a sweater following a shapes theme, but I had never contacted her again. So I'm going to show her those, as well as knit some new fall pieces. Don't know exactly what yet.

This n' That

Okay, I'm moving onto sewing project #2, the scallop-edged skirt. There are only two pattern pieces, the waistband and the skirt panels (six of them). I'm planning on cutting out the fabric this evening after I go to this trunk show (more skirts!). I finished my Knitty book project and will wait to hear on that. Tomorrow I'm going to the bridal shop to meet with a client and let her see the necklace I made for her. She wanted a drop for the back of the necklace. I hope she likes it!

Jacket is Done!

Finally, this jacket is completed! I decided not to add the buttons. I liked it without them. Plus I was a little lazy and wanted it finished so I decided to leave them off. I figured I could put them on later if I really needed them. The fit is great, but since the weather has been so nice lately, I've had a hard time envisioning wearing this jacket anytime soon. It'll go in the closet and when fall rolls around, I will gladly wear it. I also worked on a Knitty project this weekend. I was crazy busy with projects all weekend long! I hope to be able to start the skirt this week though. I cut out the two pattern pieces I need and want to get that fabric cut soon. My friend's wedding that I'm in is this Saturday, so posting will be sporadic this week with all the pre-wedding events.

Sew Cool

I cut out the lining pieces to the jacket this morning before work. I am thisclose to finishing it. Hopefully it won't take too long and I can wear it to the Fourth of July party I'm going to tomorrow. Yay!
