I Got Me Some Sleeves

I had been battling a cold several weeks ago, so my progress on the Rebecca sweater had been very slow. However, I managed to finally finish the front this weekend and was able to start the sleeves last night. So far, they seem to be knitting up pretty fast. I did most of my knitting tonight while watching the Oscars. I must say, I really liked the changes that were made, including Hugh Jackman as host. It was fun to watch, especially the acting awards with the five previous winners they brought on stage to present the nominees.

Ta Da

I finished this skirt earlier tonight. I started draping a skirt pattern over the weekend, but then I found this old McCall's A-line skirt pattern in my stash and decided to use that instead. I sewed up a muslin of the skirt and had to alter the pattern a bit to customize the fit. The underskirt is only slightly showing and is more like a slip that is too long. I didn't want it to show more than half an inch unlike the Anthropologie skirt. You can't tell from the dress form, but the skirt sits on my waist and comes right above my knee.

Inspiration

I saw this skirt in the latest Anthropologie catalog and was really intrigued by it. I headed over to Bolt to search for some fabric and came away with some of the new Jay McCarroll stuff from Free Spirit, as well as some cranberry-colored cotton lawn. I haven't done any sewing for a while, so I thought it'd be fun to design and drape a skirt/underskirt pattern.
