Sunrise Circle Jacket

Here's the finished jacket! I sewed the buttons on last night. I had read some blog entries regarding the sizing of this jacket, so I was a bit worried about that, but the fit is great. I didn't make any changes in the pattern, aside from using the yarn to do my seaming instead of tapestry wool. I ended up using tapestry wool only to sew up my hems. Though this project took quite a bit of time, I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Buttoned Up

I started seaming at lunch yesterday and then finished that and sewing up all the hems last night. It wasn't as laborious as I thought it would be. Now I have to sew on the toggles and the toggle loops.

Kick Ass-cot!

This accessory was a fun and easy project that took me a couple of evenings to knit. Just what I needed after finishing all the Sunrise Circle Jacket pieces. I bought one skein of KnitPicks'Shine Worsted in grass, though I probably could have found something suitable in my stash to use. I love how it turned out! The pattern is from Vickie Howell. It calls for using some fingering weight mohair scraps, but I opted to just use the same yarn throughout.

Surprise

It was a weekend full of surprises for me. The first one was receiving my Knitpicks yarn on Saturday. It was completely unexpected and I was very happy. I'm a bit undecided about the watermelon color though. It's that weird in-between-pinky-red color and I usually prefer a more deeper red. It may grow on me. We'll see.

Another surprise occurred yesterday while Mariko and I were at Fabric Depot, buying various crafting supplies. As I was browsing among the yarn I saw a small selection of Phildar, including Aviso, Eponge, Licorne, and more! Read Mariko's entry here and see a photo. And yes, that Phildar is 30% off!

The last surprise happened right before I went to bed last night. I finished the other side of the Sunrise Circle Jacket. I pinned it down for blocking this morning and should be able to start seaming it sometime this week. The directions say to use tapestry wool for the seaming, so I will need to get some of that.

Next Up

So, I haven't even started that short row hat yet, but I have decided on my next project: Fad Classic from Knit and Tonic. Yes, it is another vest because I love vests! I can't seem to ever have enough. I ordered some Shine Worsted from KnitPicks in watermelon. Though KnitPicks is a local company, it always seems to take forever to get their yarn!

RIght on Track

I was so happy when I finally finished the left front of the jacket a few days ago. I felt like I had been endlessly knitting stockinette stitch with no progress, so when I approached the hem of the curved edge, I was surprised and motivated to get done. I hope the right side goes faster.

At Last

I had ordered yarn from Ami Ami at the beginning of March to make this hat and I finally received it last Friday. Apparently, they were just closing for a short break when I ordered the yarn, hence the long delivery time. The pattern for the hat is from Interweave Knits.

TGIF

I finished the vests a couple of days ago, but forgot to post the picture yesterday. They turned out great and I love all the stripes. However, I've only finished weaving in about half of all the ends. I could only handle so much at one sitting. I'll have to tackle the rest of the ends this weekend. I've been working on the tweedy jacket, but I'm on the lookout for some fun spring and summer knitting!

Quick Update

I finally finished the ribbing on the necklines and armbands of the two baby vests. I should have the seaming done by tonight and pictures of the finished projects by tomorrow. In between working on baby stuff this weekend, I was able to make a bit of progress on the one front of the Sunrise Circle Jacket. I'll be glad when I'm done knitting with the cotton!
