Hoodie is Done!

I finally finished the hoodie today! I just finished weaving in all the ends and steam blocking the hood. I really like how the project turned out. I especially like the I-cord bindoff used at the garment hem of the body, sleeves, and hoodie trim. It took forever, but it makes the sweater look polished. The only thing I don't particularly like about the sweater is how much the yarn sheds. I won't be wearing anything dark underneath it!

I finally finished the hoodie sleeves a couple of days ago and pinned the front and back for blocking the other night. I pinned the sleeves for blocking last night and plan to finish seaming the sweater this weekend. I still have to knit up the hood, so I should have a new sweater at the beginning of next week.

PS This image of a local theater is making the rounds on Buzzfeed and Defamer. It made my day.

Back to the Previously Scheduled Knitting

I spent most of last week planning for this event that took place this past weekend and just picked up my knitting again this afternoon. I finally started in on the lace chart for the sleeves. I thought knitting five and a half inches of stockinette stitch would never end. Hopefully, the lace pattern will make knitting go by more quickly and then I can go back to the front piece and decide whether or not to rip to make the armholes even with the back or just take in the extra seam allowance when I'm seaming the sections together.

Hot in the City

The hot weather past weekend made me retreat to the basement where all I did was knit and watch episodes of Mad Men on demand. I did manage to get the front of the hoodie completed. I did notice that my armhole bind off for the front occurred a few rows later than the back, so they won't match up exactly. I haven't decided if I want to rip out all that work or not. The anal retentive side may get the best of me.

Oh Yeah, I Finished the Back

I forgot to post this picture last week when I finished the back of the hoodie. I'm about a third of the way through the front and the knitting seems to be cruising along. It's been nice and hot here recently, so I haven't spent too much time knitting.

Hoodie Back

Though I wasn't sure about the yarn color, I decided to go ahead and start in on the hoodie Friday night. I think the color is starting to grow on me. I love knitting lace patterns and this one is easy enough to memorize. For me, knitting lace is addictive. I'm always trying to complete just one more pattern repeat. Before I know it, I've done three or four pattern repeats.

On Deck

The Apres Surf Hoodie from the summer issue of Interweave Knits is my next project. I wanted something light and airy as a summer layering piece and this seemed to fit the bill. I ordered some Rowan Cashcotton in a light buttery yellow color. I think this will be a fun piece to knit up. I'm looking forward to working on some lace!
